Staying on task (7 July)
This week’s gospel (found in Luke, Chapter 10) is sharp and direct. It tells us exactly how we should be working for the Spiritual Harvest. We need to direct our attention away from the mundane everyday world of numbers in church, budgets and deadlines. These quantifiable issues may serve some purpose but they should not be our focus. Our call is to emulate Jesus who met people where they were and attended to their needs. Our purpose is to share the joy and hope that is at the core of our experience of God. As Anglicans that may feel uncomfortable for some. A soft-spoken humility and prayerful trust in God may feel most authentic for you. Teamwork is an important aspect of our work for the Kingdom. Of course, we know that God’s purpose is to express Love, and as we grow in our understanding of that love we tap into the source that will fuel our action. These are the themes I will develop in this week’s sermon.
With love and blessings,
Linda
