Are you listening? (11 May)
In this week’s gospel (found in John, Chapter 10) Jesus talks about himself as the Shepherd and identifies those who listen to him as his sheep. My sermon this week boils down to one question: are you listening for his voice? This question implicates a lot of sub-issues. How is your prayer life? Are you actively seeking to discern God’s will for your life? Are you moving outside of your comfort zone when it comes to expanding your spiritual experience? These are some themes I will develop this week.
We had a wonderful election day at All Saints. A huge sausage sizzle and a pop-up Op Shop were the culmination of many hours of preparation and pack-up by a band of hard-working parishioners. I thank everyone who played a role.
At Eastertide we hear the wonderful Resurrection stories week by week. Jesus is on the shore calling to us to put down our net on the other side of the boat, as we heard in last week’s gospel. This is the time for trust and listening for the voice of the Shepherd. Can you hear his voice?
Love and blessings,
Linda
