Am I weak enough? (18 May)

This week’s gospel (found in John Chapter 13) calls us to consider the issues of Jesus’ glorification, his departure and his commandment that we should love one another. In typical counter-cultural fashion, Jesus’ teaching and ministry were not focused on power and aggrandisement. His authority was a direct reflection of his relationship with the Father. This week again I find myself reflecting on the priestly role. I took somewhat of a risk talking candidly last week on what it means to be a conduit of authority that is beyond me. In my sermon this week I will talk further about how I function as a priest, asking this question: ‘Am I weak enough to be a priest?’ Do come and listen to me unpack that theme.

On Friday we had our handover meeting with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and now we look to a new future operating our own parish Op Shop. I hope you are willing to support this new venture. Firstly, we need prayer. Next, we will need an on-going supply of goods to sell. Lastly, we will need volunteers to work alongside our paid manager. Please talk to me or a churchwarden to indicate how you can support the project.

With love and blessings,

Linda
